Jacksonville Jaguars Nate Collins in Trouble with the Law

Nate Collins who plays as a defensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars has been charged by Virginia State Police for possession of marijuana.  Nate was driving on Route 29 which is known for a heavy police presence, (most likely on his way to Charlottesville, VA where he played for the Cavaliers) when he was pulled over due his window being tinted beyond the legal limit for Virginia, so he is now being charged for driving a vehicle with illegal tint and being in possession of marijuana.

Gabbert Looks Poor Again in Loss

When Blaine Gabbert replaced Luke McCown at quarterback earlier this season it was important for the franchise to see some production and development out of their first round pick from Missouri. So far any sort of production out of Gabbert as been minimal, and development even less so. It is pretty clear that outside of Maurice Jones-Drew the Jaguars lack any sort of talent on offense, however it would give the franchise a decisive direction of the future had he played reasonably well. However, Gabbert has failed to give anyone within the organization much confidence.

The Titans were playing for their playoff lives, so it was going to be no easy task for the sorry Jacksonville Jaguars to beat them on the road. After Tennessee had jumped out to a 10-0 lead, Jacksonville was left fighting back the for the rest of the game. The Jaguars struck back with a touchdown by Maurice Jones-Drew, who finished the game with 103 yards on 24 carries, and currently leads the league in rushing. Jones-Drew has been one of the most consistently good running backs over the last five years, and is actually underrated because he plays on losing teams.

Jacksonville was able to keep the game within 7 going into the half, but they were not able to produce anything offensively in the second half. The only score came after a costly Tennessee fumble that gave the Jaguars a short field. At 4-11 the Jaguars head into their last game of the season against the lowly Indianapolis Colts who have actually been the winners of two in a row after losing 13 straight.

Monday Night Nightmare for Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to try to forget the beginning of the new era for their organization, after they were gashed by the San Diego Chargers 38-14. After the Jaguars fell behind 10-0 in the first quarter, they were able to fight back and take the lead in the second quarter 14-0 after two touchdown passes by Blaine Gabbert.

With 2:32 left on the board the Chargers were able to score two touchdowns and retake the lead 24-14. Scoring those two touchdowns in less than 90 seconds broke the backs of the Jaguars players. Jacksonville is defintiely not built to play in a high scoring game, so when the defense fails to keep the opponent under 20 points Jacksonville’s chances of winning drop dramatically.

Jacksonville was not able to put anything together offensively in the second half, and fell to the Chargers quietly. The only player on the Jaguars worth noting was Maurice Jones-Drew, who continues to be one of the best runningbacks in the league, although he plays on a horrendous team. Jones-Drew finished with over 90 yards both rushing and receiving including a touchdown.

The Jaguars will hope to see some improvement out of their young QB, Gabbert in the final four games, or they may actually have to think of taking one of the many highly touted quarterbacks in the draft. You would expect Jacksonville to play hard down the stretch as many of the current players will be playing for a position on the team next year when the new regime comes in.

After another Loss, Del Rio Fired and Jaguars Sold

Sunday began positively for Jacksonville. On the Texans first possession Arian Foster fumbled, which was recovered by Ashton Youboty who returned it 38 yards for a touchdown. Houston was able to answer with a touchdown of their own later in the first quarter, on a touchdown run by Foster.

Points were tough to come by the rest of the game for the Jags, as had been the case for the whole season. Gabbert had been playing so awfully that Del Rio actually pulled him for Luke McCown, which is a bit insane considering that Gabbert is a rookie and is trying to learn how to win games, and you already know that McCown cannot win games, especially when trailing.

After Sunday news came out that Del Rio had been fired. Jack Del Rio had been with Jacksonville for nine years and had made the playoffs several times. The Jaguars never won the division under Del Rio, but they did have some success along the way. Aside from Del Rio being fired the Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver agreed to sell the franchise to Shahid Khan. Khan is reportedly purchasing 100% of the team and it will be put through the if the NFL agrees upon in, in December.

Jacksonville Wins 17-13 in Unimpressive Fashion

If the Jaguars had lost this game to the (0-10) Colts it would have been a bigger story than them winning. Both offenses in this game have struggled all season long, and outside of Maurice Jones-Drew Jacksonville does not have an offensive player who would start on any other team in the NFL, except maybe the Colts.

One thing that cannot go unnoticed, is that although the Indianapolis offense is totally inept, the Jaguars defense is pretty darn good, and has been so all season long. Without their defense the Jaguars may have very well been without a win coming into this game as well. Outside of the defense, Maurice Jones-Drew is having another very good season rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown against the Colts, making it 854 yards on the year so far for him.

Even though it is his rookie year, Blaine Gabbert has shown absolutely no progression at all so far this season. His play is identical to the first couple of starts he has made this season. Is that something the front office is going to worry about, who knows, but it is something to take note of.

Texans Too Much for the Jags, Lose 24-14

The key for the Jaguars this season has been to play stout defense, and for Maurice Jones-Drew to play great. If those ingredients mesh, the Jaguars have a good chance of winning. But when they are held in check the Jaguars will have a tough time winning regardless of who the  opponent is.

Last week the Houston did just that, they limited Jones-Drew to 63 yards and a touchdown, and were able to put up 24 points of offense on the Jaguars defense. Jacksonville has the worst offense in the NFL and it does not help that Gabbert and his receivers cannot build any type of report with each other, and if the game is in the hands of Gabbert….Good Luck. On the bright side, as bad Gabbert can look at times, you know he is light years better than McCown.

The Jaguars have a bye next week and get an extra week to prepare for division cellar dweller, Indianapolis Colts.
