A well deserved win by the good guys, right.
After it started out rocky for a while, being down 10 points with 3:45 left in the first half, the Jaguars hit their stride and, to a point, ran away with it. You like what I did there?
The defense for the rest of the game allowed three points. Three points in two quarters. I am not going to go into stats a whole bunch only because it was not that type of win. It was a gritty win. It was a grind-it-out win. It was a win for a team that earned it and it was a win for a city that deserved it…..on national television. Here are a couple of this highlights from the game:
- No turnovers
- 4 sacks by the defense, 1 was worth $600,000
- 177-yards rushing against the 32nd (that is last) ranked rushing defense
- 2 rushing touchdowns (Gerhart & Todman)
- RB Jordan Todman had the longest touchdown run (62 yards) since 2010
- Telvin Smith
What a win to have for the last home game of the season. Based on the national media the next day, it looks like the game may have cause an uproar about a certain small market team in North Florida…and its quarterback and defense.
The last drive of the first half for the Jaguars. After going down by 10, QB Blake Bortles lead the Jags on an 11 play, 80-yard that ended with a 4-yard touchdown pass to TE Marcedes Lewis. Did you miss it?
That brought the crowd into the game and introduced my favorite guest at Everbank Field — Mr. Momentum. With the offense driving the ball like it did and the crowd responding as they did, this was where the game changed. The rest of it was just fun!
The play of the game
The play of the game started after a defensive stand, stopping the Titans on 4th down.
The first play from scrimmage by the Jaguars was a hand-off to RB Jordan Todman who followed his blocks, made a man lose his jock, stiff-armed another defender and went 62-yards for the touchdown. Then performed a Jacksonville version of the “Lambeau Leap”. What should we call it?
The play of the game — 2nd edition
Anything worth $600,000 is kind of a big deal. So seeing Sen’Derrick Marks, on the last play of the game against his old team sack QB Charlie Whitehurst was great! He has been the Jaguar MVP all season and to see him get that sack was fun — Johnny Football celebration and all. Then seeing the team mob him afterwards was a real treat.
GET HIM TO THE PRO-BOWL, Jacksonville Fans!
Stat of the week
8.5 sacks — nuff said.
The Texans with a 4th string quarterback and a hell of a defense and still have a chance at the playoffs.
The Jaguars coming off a great home win preparing for the future and ready to play spoiler.
