Doug Marrone in as OL coach

The Jacksonville Jaguars hired former Bills coach Doug Marrone as assistant head coach/offensive line coach as reported by Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times Union.

Marrone is coming off a 9-7 year as head coach of the Buffalo Bills.  He decided to exercise a foolish opt-out clause to leave the team at the end of the regular season.  Why is it foolish?  The Bills are paying Marrone $4,000,000 this season no strings attached.  Wow!

Marrone has been a head coach for the last two years in the NFL with the Bills and with the Syracuse Orangemen for four years prior to that.

He played in college as an O-lineman and his coaching history shows 14 years as an OL/TE coach and three years as the Offensive Coordinator for the New Orlean Saints from 2006-08.

Also according to O’Halloran, he was ONLY interviewed for the OL coach and was not in the running for the Offensive Coordinator position.

Hopefully his coaching ability can bring some ability out of a line that allowed 71 sacks last season.  Anything is better than that!
